Major Connector:
The unit of a cast partial denture that connects the various parts of the denture. Its main functions are to provide unification and rigidity to the denture. It helps in equal
distribution of occlusal load along the prosthesis and foundation. All components are attached directly or indirectly to major connector.
Minor Connector:
It is a link between major connector and the other components of cast partial dentures.
Rest:
Rest provides definite vertical stop to the partial denture. It prevents vertical movements of partial denture.
Direct Retainer:
It provides retention to partial denture.
Indirect Retainer:
Mainly indicated in distal extension cases. It provides additional retention and prevents movement of partial denture around fulcrum lines.
